A strong Outreach thrust has led to many programs involving large numbers of St. Peter's parishioners. Some of these are within the parish, others relate to the Diocese of Toronto, or elsewhere in Canada, and some are worldwide.
The Anglican Appeal in the Anglican Church of Canada's annual fundraising campaign to support mission work and ministry in Canada's North and with our church partners overseas. What kind of work does your Anglican Appeal donation support?
Your donation supports the ten Council of the North dioceses, where long distances and sparsely populated areas make ministry more difficult. Your gift helps local people train as clergy without having to leave families, jobs or community. Donations also support the church's Indigenous Healing Fund. Through this fund, a young native woman receives training to help her counsel others who are struggling with the effects of attending a residential school many years ago.
The church is expanding rapidly in many countries, often far beyond resources of the people to sustain it. Overseas, your gift helps a theological student finish his education despite countless hardships. The benefits go far beyond the church walls as these leaders are often involved in important work in their communities, including running day care centres for poor families and ministering to those with HIV/AIDS.
All of this, and more, is possible because of your gifts to the Anglican Appeal through Faith Works.
The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) Le fonds du Primat pour le secours et le développement mondial is the Anglican Church of Canada's agency for sustainable development, relief, refugees, and global justice. With the support of Anglican parishes across Canada, PWRDF makes financial and human resources available to support partners' initiatives and to promote knowledgeable actions of solidarity at home and around the world.
