Women of Faith

Women of Faith breakfast meetings were designed to invite women to tell and hear the stories of their Christian journeys. The program was initiated by the Reverend Claire Wade and has been continued with a planning committee.

Each gathering begins at 8:45 am on a Saturday morning with a delicious breakfast and conversation in the Great Hall. Afterwards, we move into the chapel for singing and inspiration in the form of scripture readings, skits, short essays or meditations. This is followed by our speaker of the day, a woman from our community. We try to finish by 11 am.
The minimum charge for breakfast is $7:00. Any profits are donated to other church ministries.

All women of the parish are invited to attend these gatherings and are also encouraged to bring along friends and neighbours.

Men’s Club

The St. Peter’s Men’s club brings together the men of the parish for monthly dinner meetings, followed by a special speaker. It also does catering for parish events such as the annual Pancake Supper.

Monthly meetings are normally held on the third Thursday of each month, with occasional changes to the meeting dates to accommodate other events or Church festivals, such as Christmas. All meetings begin with Fellowship at 6:00 p.m., followed by Dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Meditation

Christian meditation has all the benefits of regular meditation with the added benefit of our focus on the centre of our being – Christ. It was brought back into the Christian prayer tradition by a Benedictine monk, Father John Main.  It is world wide.

Meditation on Mondays

This group meets in the chapel on Monday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Groups also meet at other sites within Cobourg:

Palisade Gardens:
Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. – EXCEPT the last Tuesday of each month, when they meet at 9:30a.m.
Location: Chapel/TV room, 1st floor

Rosewood Estates:
Mondays, 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.

All groups welcome new members whether they have experience with meditation or not.

A typical meeting involves listening to a recorded talk from the World Community of Christian Meditators followed by 30 minutes of silent meditation.

The meditation is introduced with prayer and music. It ends with music and a reading, usually biblical.

Friends at Ten

Friends at 10 is a wonderful gathering of people who either come to visit the Friday Parish Nurse Clinic or have a chat with others over a cup of tea or coffee with a variety of treats. Also included are hugs, laughs and stories about families and grandchildren. Friends at 10 is run by a group of dedicated volunteers. Everyone leaves the Hutton Room with a special place in their heart for our group of friends.
